Origins of "White Horse" as a Pub Name
Pubs with animal names such as Horse often refer to hunting however the White Horse has other possible connotations. A white horse is the sign of the House of Hanover and was adopted by many 18th Century inns to demonstrate loyalty to this new dynasty.
